when i was ex-communicated by the jw s a couple of years ago one thought ran through my mind.
had i commited the unforgivable sin?.
i have willingly divorced my wife without a scriptual reason for it.

I woke at spot on the witching hour the other nite and felt I had sinned against the Holy Spirit. So much that I got out of bed and reviewed my posts on this site.
i am currently reading timothy keller's the reason for god.
the book has two sections.
the first is a general apologetice work with no new insights.
I think we don't understand fully God's love. Therefore we fall short in our love for each other.

I have thought many times about whether my life was better or worse. For me I think it was probably good. I think my relationship with my parents would have been worse.

she graduated from high school in 1976. during the 90 minutes i spent with her yesterday, she mentioned that the org never said the end was coming in 1975-" it was just a few who said that and they all left after 1976- which was good- because jah needed to cleanse the kh of all who were serving with just a date in mind.. i asked her, "don't you remember the assembly talk from 1969 or 1970, where the speaker said, "stay alive until 75"- no she didn't remember.. i explained that our kh had a co tell us from the platform," brothers there is only 18 months left until armageddon- wow, she exclaimed.. i continued my story, "the po's 16 year old son quit school in 1974- to become a regular pioneer- he was held up as a fine example in the cong- and used as an example at a circuit assembly that year of someone who putting jehovah's work first.
didn't you have some who quit school to pioneer back then?".

I loathe this statement that JW's use to excuse themselves from the responsiblities of their teachings.
I never met anyone that was serving with a date in mind.
I did meet people who couldn't understand how the teachings could have been sooo wrong if this was God's organization.
I totally accepted 1975 but it did not send me out of the "truth". My family happily made sacrifices for the nearness of the end.
In 1988 I had a discussion with my father about the possibility of "the generation" passing away and if it did that would be the end of believing the JW were God's chosen. He was reluctant to agree at the time.
(I still have one unresolved possibility before i could totally dismiss the JW religion totally, we all search for truth)
i'm wondering if anyone here has had a "near death experience" or know of someone that has.
as an example: such as floating above your body during your operation when the doctors 'lose' you and you make a decision to return back to your body even though the bright light and some voice tell you otherwise... .
did it change you/them in anyway?.
There evidently is a study being done by a Dr. Sam Parnia at Southampton University with some results to be published next year, I think. There is a video but i'm unable to post it with him talking about Cardiac Arrest and what they know about death.

by cutting off contact with the disfellowshipped or disassociated one, you are showing that you hate the attitudes and actions that led to that outcome.
however, you are also showing that you love the wrongdoer enough to do what is best for him or her.
When my young brother was disfellowshiped my father had to encourage my mother to talk to him. (He seriously needed talking too.) The useless body of elders were only interested in handing him over to Satan. My Brother couldn't agree not to see the young woman involved as she found herself in the hospital. So he was disfellowshiped, (against my advice.)
My father also had to encourage the Elders to talk with my brother as he was in a bad way. It was a real mess. Their attitude cost them. Love i don't think so.
That probably sounds as if my brother put her in the hospital. He didn't.

i have closely followed the premier league for the last 13 matchdays, and i am getting ready to pick a team that i will not only follow this year but for the foreseeable future.
i am not interested in chelsea, manchester u., manchester city or arsenal.
all four remind me of teams i loathe in american sports (cowboys, yankees, celtics).
I only watch England games. But my son is a Liverpool supporter. My family brothers ect. are Tottenham and Arsenal.

one issue that occupied the attention of many early interpreters is found in genesis 2:16-17, where god warns not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for on the day you eat of it you shall die.. the problem is well known: adam (and eve) did eat of the fruit, but they did not die on that day.
Personally, my view is that: on that day, Adam and Eve gave up their "immortality" with God and as such, they did indeed "die" that day.
